Getting started

The steps from a new account to a published role with its first candidates, and where each one is in the app.

1. Create the account and name the company

Sign up, then name your company. The same screen asks for your website, which is optional.

2. Verify the company

A job can be published only once someone at the company has verified a work email on the company's own domain. If you signed up with an address on your company's domain, the company is usually verified as soon as you finish. If not, an admin opens Settings → General → Company verification, enters a work address and opens the link we email to it. Addresses at personal email providers cannot verify a company. Everything else in the product works while you wait.

3. Add your website

When you draft a role, we read a short profile of your company from its website so the job brief and rubric describe your company rather than a template. Add the site when you sign up, or later under Settings → General. Settings → General → Company profile shows what was read. Correct anything that is wrong, and press Refresh after your site changes.

4. Invite your team

Open Team in the sidebar and use Invite a teammate. Pick each person's role. Interviewers see only the jobs they are given access to.

5. Decide on automatic decisions

Settings → Hiring → Automatic decisions is off for every new company. While it is off, each decision a score would trigger (reject after the résumé, invite to the AI screen, advance or reject after a round) waits for you in Inbox → Needs you, with the scoring model's recommendation and its reasons. Accepting one takes a click. Turn it on, and the decisions you leave switched on are taken as soon as a score crosses the job's thresholds. See Deciding.

6. Create and publish the first job

Go to Jobs → Create job. Paste a job description, jot a few notes, or talk the role through, and we draft a rubric you can edit. Before the job goes live, a person confirms the role's facts, both decision thresholds are set, and the role has a country. The job page lists anything still missing, and Activate publishes it. See Defining the role and Publishing a role.

7. Add candidates

  • Share the careers page. The job's Listing panel has the link, plus ready-to-paste text for LinkedIn, Wellfound and Hacker News.
  • Upload résumés. Add résumés on the job page takes CVs for people who did not apply through your careers page. Each person is emailed a notice.

Each résumé is scored against the rubric shortly after it arrives. See Getting candidates in.
